The fauna of Tenuipaplidae has not been studied for most countries in the region except the Philippines (Corpuz-Ramos, 1978). Mites species belonging to two common genera (Tenuipalpus and Brevipalpus) are known to attack economic plants and cause significant damages. Brevipalpus obovatus Donnadieu and B. phoenicis (Geijskes) attack over 50 genera of ornamental plants. Tenuipalpus pacificus Baker attacks orchids.
